The themed competitions for 2025 and 2026 will be as follows:

April 2025 for the Jim Davis Trophy – “Rain“

November 2025 for the Freespirit Shield – “Begins with the letter C“.

April 2026 for the Jim Davis Trophy – “Drama“

November 2026 for the Freespirit Shield – “Minimalism“.

“Hugh and I” – Hugh Milsom & Leigh Preston

A change to the advertised programme – A PAGB recorded lecture – Leigh Preston offers an appreciation of the pictures Hugh Milsom FRPS MFIAP EFIAP/Diamond/2, a photographer and friend who he has known since 1980. Hugh is one of the country’s foremost landscape photographers having won many awards internationally over the course of three decades. He is also the author of five books which feature his landscape photography.

An Evening with Ron Lines – BA (Hons) Photography, LRPS, DPAGB, EFIAP/s, AWPF, BPE3*

Ron will be giving a general talk on the history of photography and how we got where we are, including a look at images from the Picture Post. Also, as Ron is the WPF FIAP officer, he’ll also be telling us about FIAP distinctions and how he got the many letters after his name.

Victoria Hillman – Creative Wildlife

Victoria’s talk looks at her more creative nature & wildlife photography work including macro, birds, mammals and a few landscapes. It covers how she took the shot, including lighting, composition and how to be more creative photographing nature. She will also look at multiple exposures in camera.
