Towards the end of last year we entered the GB Cup and the GB Cup for Nature and the results were announced this week. The competition is for projected images is held each year and any UK Club may enter without prequalification.
In the GB Cup (Open) Gwynfa finished joint 13th from 58 Clubs. We ended up equal on points with Smethwick Photographic Society, Wigan 10 Foto Club and Cheltenham Camera Club, three of the biggest names in UK competitive photography. We were also top Welsh club!
In the GB Cup (Nature) we didn’t fare quite so well. We finished joint 49th from 62 clubs.
However, there was a noteable individual success. Heidi Stewart scored a maximum of 15 points for her image “Green Veined White on Cuckoo Flower” (see below) and was awarded a Silver Medal for it being the Chairman’s Choice. This is effectively the joint second-placed image in the entire Nature competition. Needless to say, Alec was thrilled to hear of Heidi’s success.
Sadly we were unable to attend the judging of this event so Heidi wasn’t able to win the raffle too.
