GB Cup Results

The Great British Cup was judged last weekend with varying degrees of success for Gwynfa.

In the Open competition for large clubs the highest placed Welsh club was Tenby (165 points) in joint 15th place. Gwynfa finished on 160 points. Other Welsh clubs were: Port Talbot (156), the Vale (156), Swansea (153) and Neath (150). A total of 106 clubs took part.

In the Nature competition Gwynfa turned the tables on Tenby by finishing as top WPF club with 109 points (and joint 28th place). The other Welsh clubs were Tenby (108), Neath (106), Swansea (105) and Bridgend (98). A total of 98 clubs took part.

In the Open competition for ‘small’ clubs Bridgend & District finished 7th on 115 points. The other two WPF entrants, Carmarthen and Towy Valley finished on 105 and 101 respectively. A total of 58 clubs took part. It is perhaps surprising that Bridgend were not entered in the competition for large clubs given their strength and standing in the federation.

We shall publish the individual Gwynfa scores when we have them.
